Doctoral student in materials chemistry

Lund University is Scandinavia’s largest institution for education and research in a great number of disciplines, such as engineering, natural sciences, law, social science, economics, medicine, theology and the arts. LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 6 500 students and 850 PhD-students. The research carried out at LTH is of high international standard and we continuously develop our teaching and adapt our courses to the needs of today.

Work
Research in the area of materials chemistry, in particular intermetallic structural chemistry.

Eligibility
Employment as a Doctoral student can only be granted if you have been accepted to the postgraduate student program. Acceptance to the postgraduate student program is based on the estimated ability to perform well in your postgraduate studies. This is also one of the basic criteria for employment. Furthermore you need a valid university degree at advanced level (MSc) within a relevant study program.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science, or equivalent, in chemistry.

Selection criteria
Selection to postgraduate studies is based on estimated ability to perform well in the studies. The evaluation of the ability to perform well is based primarily on the results of the studies on basic and advanced level, in particular:
1. Knowledge and skills relevant to postgraduate studies within this area, such as course work in aerosol physics, meteorology, and environmental science. This can be documented by appended documents.
2. Estimated ability to independent work and ability to formulate and solve scientific questions. This ability can be established, for example, based on a master thesis or in a discussion of scientific problems during a possible interview.
3. Skills in written and oral communication.
4. Other experience relevant to postgraduate studies, such as professional experience.

Other
As a Doctoral student you will mainly be working with your research project, but you can also be given more general tasks within the department i.e. teaching, research and administrative work, in accordance with the regulations. Rules for employment as a Doctoral student is stated in "The Higher Education Ordnance (SFS 1998:80), Chapter 5".
