Applications are invited for a number of funded three-year PhD studentships within the Centre for Informatics Research. The studentships will cover tuition fees to home/EU level, with the possibility of a standard living allowance (stipend), currently £13,290 per annum for 2009/10 becoming available. Six PhD studentships are available in Computer Science at Swansea University, with funding of up to 12,940 GBP stipend plus fees.UK candidates are eligible to apply for all six studentships.

4 Postdoc/PhD Positions at Interface of Neuroscience and Roboti

Department of Bioengineering 4 postdoc or Ph.D. positions at the interface of Neuroscience and Robotics

We have recently received funding from the EU-FP7 for four positions to investigate how humans physically interact and adapt their control to perform efficient manipulation.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in robotics/mechatronics, physics, control, or neurophysiology, neurorehabilitation or fMRI. They should have potential for excellent research and the capability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary research group with people from all these disciplines. They should be highly motivated to use robotics and control techniques for tackling fundamental issues in motor control/ learning, or in the rehabilitation after neurological disorders.

Applicants for a postdoc position should have obtained, or be about to obtain, a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. Applicants for a Ph.D. position should have an MSc degree, although exceptional candidates with a BSc degree will be considered. Applicants with a bursary or a fellowship who want to participate in this research are also welcome.

The Vice-Chancellor' s full-time research studentships at Thames Valley University

Thames Valley University (TVU) is among just three London universities to climb 17 places or more in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008. To celebrate TVU's performance in the RAE2008 and strengthen our research student base, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter John is pleased to announce a number of research scholarships, ranging from Art and Design to Nursing.

The scholarships will cover full UK/EU tuition fees and provide a maintenance allowance of £15,290 per annum for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified students to commence study in September 2009. You should hold or expect to be awarded a 2 (i) Hons degree or above. A Master's degree in an appropriate subject area is desirable. Those candidates whose first language is not English must demonstrate evidence of appropriate English language proficiency, normally defined as a minimum IELTS score of 7. In addition to their PhD studies, duties will include up to 6 hours per week (during term time) assisting with teaching on appropriate modules.
